Shifts needed
Three staff per day. Staff are “on call” during their shift window and float to whichever work site needs support that day. This position does not pull shifts, and float staff should never be left alone in the homes — they need to stay available to float.
Shift 1
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Shift 2
4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Shift 3
12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
What the role involves
Float support staff may be called on to assist with any of the following, depending on need:
- Break coverage and relief for house staff (house staff stay on site)
- Behavioral support when a second person is needed to keep clients apart
- Two-person physical transfers
- General house support as needed and determined by On-Call
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Valid auto insurance
- Ability to respond and drive to different work sites on short notice
- Ability to perform two-person transfers and provide behavioral support
- Willingness to be on call and available during the assigned shift block
Pay structure
- $50/day stipend for being on call and available, regardless of whether you are called in.
- Plus hourly pay for all time actually spent supporting houses, claimed on your timesheet.
How it works
- Interested staff call the on-call line to sign up for available shifts.
- The on-call coordinator maintains a calendar showing which shifts are filled and which are open.
- Staff commit to being reachable and able to respond during their scheduled on-call block.
Duration
This is a 3-week trial run. Based on outcomes, Kokua may extend the program, transition it into a permanent position, or end it if it does not meet the intended need.
